The only album of Boris Grebenshikov that I have access to right now is "Russian Songwriter". The tune of this one caught my attention as it sounds like one of the happier tunes, with accordian, etc. However, I did not know all the words, and some of the grammatical constructs and colloquial language are still throwing me off, for a good laugh at my expense.. Just a note that the three contractors captured by the FARC in Feb 2003 are still in captivity. FARC claims that Marc Gonsalves, Thomas Howes and Keith Stansell are still alive.

This morning begins well considering the amount of drinks from last night.. coffee and Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit in Bulgarian. Actually memory is now drivable about the previously posted events, and if done in reverse, Girlie and I(we recall her LJ name to currently be youseless) also watched the Sunset Boulevard "I am big, it's the pictures that got small.". And of course "I am a star, nobody leaves a star" before Holden went for a little "swim" in the pool. Naturally we also went for a swim. Girlie complemented me as a professional swimer, for some reason she is prone to hyperbolizing me. But in this case I am happy to say I have developed some swimming skills. These skills, however, may be less close to triathalon skills, and more close to the skills that a mouse has when it can get the raisin off the trap without springing it to its very own death.


Because we are perfectionists of a sort we plan to go bar slumming again next saturday. country, not goth.

This evening was marked by the calling of Mudhoney base player - "hey nice drum solo". History will show that not being taken seriously by fallen craven dispicable rockstars "by having held their glazen doughnut in the video nationwide released". It was a damn fine drum solo. It has been finally decided that humiliation is far superior than staying home.

Actually, the evening began with bar slumming. And the place across my work. Hats, asses, legs, boots, saddles and most importantly Johnny Walker and girlie almost found a boyfriend. We also did walk by the Fenix Underground that was having it's last night and we didn't want to add to the number, causing them to wonder why they are closing on the first place.

In sum, the person I don't want to talk about is a boring historian.

Sabai di! The Legacies of War Preview Exhibition and Benefit is tommorow, Saturday May 13 at 6:30 in Pioneer Square. I have been down here helping to set it up and it is quite something. The new ArtXChange space is a truly delightful space, and the food and conversation will be impressive. I worked on a huge (~10 x 20 ft) map of Laotian migration between the 1970s and 2000. The exhibit has textiles and photographs, as well as some more interactive pieces. Congressman Jim McDermott will be here and speak. Also, the special guest speaker will be the People's Democratic Republic of Laos Ambassador to the UN, Ambassador Alounkeo Kittikhoun. There will be a traditional ceremony and dance. Please come by if you can.

Sometime around 2002 I had the opportunity to hear one of my heroes, Wade Davis, give a presentation entitled "Vanishing Cultures, Vanishing Lives". I taped it and began transcribing some of it.. I really dont know what happened to the rest of the tape. I am kicking myself for not completing the project, but anyways, the first bit it still quite moving to me. Incidentaly, I got his phone number after the presentation because he said he would grant me an interview, but I never did manage to get ahold of him.

I was as surprised to find out the results of Iowa. I asked anaskyfish, who lives in Iowa, to explain to me the whole caucus thing. It sounds pretty groovy.. anybody can have a caucus even in their house if they want to. It was great to hear first-hand, since most of my news comes from Jon Stewarts The Daily Show. And thanks to the Iowa Caucus, I am now aware of another candidate for the democratic nominee (which is good, because so far the rest look like a bunch of ass clowns)... John Kerry. Decorated Vietnam Veteran (He was a Special Boat Captain, and the stories are out there), co-founder of Vietnam Veterans of America, spokesman for Vietnam Veterans Against the War.
